Open Door Women’s Shelter is more than just a shelter; we are a beacon of hope for women and children experiencing homelessness in Beaufort County. Our dedicated team of staff, volunteers and community members work tirelessly to provide immediate assistance and long-term solutions. We believe in the power of community and the strength of unity.


Open Door Women's Shelter was born out of a shared vision to create a safe haven for women and children experiencing homelessness. Since our
establishment in 2017, we have been committed to understanding the unique
needs of each individual and providing tailored support.


We are the only shelter of this kind in the county, and we are committed to
expanding our reach and impact.


Our mission goes beyond providing shelter; we aim to empower our residents and equip them with the resources they need to secure stable housing and a brighter future.


At Open Door Women's Shelter, we provide a holistic approach to support.
Each resident is encouraged to work with our Case Manager to not only assist in alleviating immediate needs but also provide referrals to services and programs that can improve their circumstances. Our ultimate goal is to help our residents transition to stable housing and a self-sufficient life.

Open Door Women’s Shelter provides emergency shelter for single women or women and their children. We are committed to providing low barrier shelter entry because all deserve equal
access to safe shelter.

    On this website, we offer easy-to-use links for safe financial contributions. Additionally, we maintain an up-to-date Amazon Wishlist. However, due to storage constraints, we can't accept clothing or shoe donations. Still, feel free to ask about particular sizes, as we might have a resident who requires them.
  • How can I volunteer?
    The best way to start the volunteer process is to get in contact with us through this form. We'll give you a call to go over options and best fits, and find out more about you in the process too!
